Independence Day

Here is some [scary] sci-fi news. Scientists have discovered new planets in other solar systems. The HR8799 system has a star with three planets orbiting it. This new discovery makes scientist happy because it could lead to finding another Earth to ship people to once we thoroughly fuck this one up (like in Wall-E which wasn’t bad for a Disney owned Pixar, but still far from their glory days). I think this discovery is a double edged sword. Maybe even triple edge (yea, that’s how bizarre it is). For one, if we do discover a new Earth then how much effort will we put in to maintain this one? I feel like we are gonna end up going down the Galactus path (I know the non comic nerds are like “huh?”). Just destroying one planet after the other because some humans are a virus to this planet (Agent Smith put it sooo nicely in the first Matrix movie). Second scary scenario is if we are discovering new planets, how long before another planet discovers us? We all know that these other planets can’t be inhabited by HUMANS, but who knows what other creatures lurk out in space? And who knows if their technology is better or worse? What if they are just gettin their telescopes updated and now can see into our solar system? Do I hear The Day The Earth Stood Still in 3-D? 3-D meaning really happening.
