Closing rant

I came into this election with no emotions whatsoever. Vote for Dem because Republicans have been fuckin up. But when I hear the reasons people don’t want to vote for Obama, and the lack of reasons they give to vote for McCain, it has just turned me inside out. I don’t understand why the Republicans are so mad when they are supposed to be the most patriotic group. Isn’t a democracy a government in place for the people? Meaning that the people elect the officials they want representing them? So why you mad they voting for Obama? Because Obama is liar? Because Obama doesn’t know how to run a country? Because Obama is black? Please sit on a dick and twirl because we’ve endured your President for 8 years, now it’s time to return the favor.

  1. "Isn’t a democracy a government in place for the people?"

Democracy is about making choices for yourself. Not being told that you make too much money (profit), or that you HAVE to help people who are worse off. It's about making to choice to do so on your own, not because you HAVE to.

  2. Democracy is a form of government in which the supreme power is held completely by the people under a free electoral system. It is derived from the Greek δημοκρατία ([dimokratia]), "popular government"[1] which was coined from δήμος (dēmos), "people" and κράτος (kratos), "rule, strength" in the middle of the 5th-4th century BC to denote the political systems then existing in some Greek city-states, notably Athens following a popular uprising in 508 BC. In this form, there were no defined human rights or legal restraints upon the actions of assembly, making it the first instance of "illiberal democracy."

Even though there is no universally accepted definition of 'democracy', there are two principles that any definition of democracy includes. The first principle is that all members of the society have equal access to power and the second that all members enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties.

There are several varieties of democracy some of which provide better representation and more freedoms for their citizens than others. However, if any democracy is not carefully legislated to avoid an uneven distribution of political power with balances such as the separation of powers, then a branch of the system of rule is able to accumulate power in a way that is harmful to democracy itself. The "majority rule" is often described as a characteristic feature of democracy, but without responsible government it is possible for the rights of a minority to be abused by the "tyranny of the majority". An essential process in representative democracies are competitive elections, that are fair both substantively and procedurally. Furthermore, freedom of political expression, freedom of speech and freedom of the press are essential so that citizens are informed and able to vote in their personal interests. ~ wiki

  3. I equate not being capped on money as being wealthy, correct?

Wealth is not a recognized universal freedom or liberty. Some people get it, MOST people don't. The right to live a comfortable lifestyle is a universal freedom. (And before I get bashed, NO THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT CAP WEALTH, we aren't players of a sports team)

  4. can you justify how a 'comfortable lifestyle' is a universal freedom?

is it a God-given right? Is it in ANY country's constitution?

Furthermore, define 'comfortable'. To me 'comfortable' is no less than eating steak 3 times a week. To a homeless guy 'comfortable' is having a fresh pair of pants to piss.

  5. When your basic needs are taken care of, that is a comfortable lifestyle. That is a freedom granted to us. Not having the right to live comfortably is like not having the right to live. Are we granted the right to live uncomfortably? I doubt that was the Founder Father's intentions since they were already living uncomfortable under the King's standards.

A comfortable lifestyle isn't eating steak three times a week. A comfortable lifestyle is eating everyday of the week. What you can afford to eat is different. But there are some people who can't afford to buy groceries or eat on a daily basis. Or have to decide between milk or gas for the week. That's not comfortable.
