Obama allows funding for stem cell research

Obama signed a bill that repealed a former bill that banned the use of federal funds for stem cell research. I for one am glad, because all my stem cell stocks took a bump up, and once they get funded and have a breakthrough I’ll be set to retire! Lol. Then I’m also glad due to the advancement in health it will provide. Cure dumb diseases like Alzheimer’s or somethin. Make surgery easier because you can replace the part with a genetically similar part since the donor will be the recipient. Hopefully they can get away from the embryo stem cells but hey, whatever it takes. Maybe instead we can just clone ourselves and use them as a body harvest…until they wake up from the cryogenic sleep and take over! Lol.

Why did this nigga go through like 10 pens? Doesn’t he know there is a recession goin on? Just wasteful spending! I actually had to look this up and found that it’s a tradition for President to sign bills and stuff with different pens, and then give the pen to the person who pushed for the bill as a memento. I guess it’s cool…but still wasteful if you ask me. The simple fact that your bill was signed into law by the President should be more than enough for a souvenir.

  1. I have yet to hear a convincing arguement supporting the use of our TAX money for stem cell (or any other medical) research.

If there is upside the market will provide capital for it, this method has worked for 200+ years and we have the best medicinal technology in the world.

Also spending money on those pens is just a drop in the bucket compared to the Trillions being wasted by the Feds.

    Enjoy Brazil!

  2. Um, the argument for supporting medical research is because if you ever get hurt, you can be fixed. Instead of living your life with the glass half full due to you having one eye, or one leg, or a pacemaker, you can live it to the fullest with transplants and stem cells generated organs/limbs.

And don't give me that "upside, market will provide" shit, because truth be told they can cure HIV. But the money isn't in the cure, it's in the treatment. I'd rather have you live off my medication for another 60 years (your entire lifetime) than cure you once. Capitalism at its finest, smh.

  4. here's a half assed argument that I'm only making for the sake of debate...

say we DID cure cancer, now people are living longer, collecting government money longer and sapping our medical resources longer. We will become over populated and collapse.

  5. Or we save more lives have people work more and put into the system.

Or while discovering the cure for cancer we discover a hidden gene that was never properly developed to allow us to breath underwater, now we can rebuild Atlantis.
